Novels #84: December Wrap up!

Long time no see! Since the catchup post already went out, I’m just going to talk about the books I read in December. 2022 was a bomb year for me, completing 68 books was wild! I came across so many awesome authors and I learned even more about what I do and don’t want to read about.
The last month of the year was pretty busy for me so I didn’t finish as many books as I liked. December came in at 5 novels. Stalking Jack The Ripper was the book club’s choice. It was only 337 pages and yet it took all month to complete. There were so many times when I wanted to DNF.
I couldn’t leave the ladies hanging, the last 100 pages were decently enjoyable, so I gave it 🥕🥕.5 . I’ve had this novel since 2018 and recently realized it was one of four. I really couldn’t see the story continuing from this one, so I won’t be continuing the series. The ladies loved it, so I was the odd one out.
I continued the Investigators series by John Green, I read #4 Ants in our Pants and #5 Braver and Boulder. I gave them both 🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕. I find Cilantro the Chameleon such an adorable character, I will probably read her spinoff series.
I was scrolling through Instagram and saw that Garlic and The Vampire by Bree Paulsen had a sequel, Garlic and The Witch. So of course, I went out and bought it immediately. I gave it 🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕! The story was so adorable and I was so excited to see Garlic growing into her own.
I always try to attempt a Christmas-themed Murder mystery TBR for December and I almost ALWAYS fail. Last year I was successful in reading one! Twelve Slays of Christmas by Jacqueline Frost. I thought it was going to love the small-town vibe, but the mystery was very lackluster, and the characters were so boring. I gave it 🥕🥕🥕 and while I grabbed the entire Christmas Tree Farm Mystery series from the library, I did not continue. Hopefully this year, I’ll find more interesting Christmas-themed mysteries.
