Cinema #83: The New Mutants

Hey Gang!

Don’t worry no spoilers. I’d been excited for this film since I first heard the whisper that it was going to be a real thing. I was always a fan of the more “adult” new Mutant comic series, because I was no nothing snot nosed kid that wanted a more “modern” feel of the comics my father and uncles grew up on.

Don’t walk into this film thinking its going to be an action filled X-men entry. This film is firmly planted in the horror, and suspense genre. You follow 5 “dangerous” mutant teens as they “learn to control” their powers so they can become “functioning members of society.”

Living in a decrepit hospital, the Teens, must learn to work together or else their fears may be the end of them, literally. Being taught by Dr. Reyes, they learn what brought them here, and exactly how to control their powers so they can get out.

I absolutely LOVED THIS FILM! I recognized all characters, they definitely weren’t too far off of the source material, I was also incredibly impressed with the magic and cgi. It looks great and they look great.

Definitely 4 out of 5, and has a space in my dvd collection when it is released. Are you an X-men fan? Do you know the new mutants?

Let’s talk about it on Twitter!

Until Next Time,

Moriartie
