Series #82: Beginning Columbo

Hope everyone is doing well! Today I wanna talk about the rewatch of Columbo boy wonder and I are going through. You never really think about just how much the internet watches you. When you look at our YouTube’s you can always tell who is actually signed in. Mine is light, bright and airy with artists, photographers and pokemon content, and Boywonder’s is dreary, gray, and full of politics, and cooking.
One day, his youtube started recommending clips of Columbo, and that got him thinking that he wanted to rewatch the series. You know me, always down for a mystery, so I said yes, but I have only ever finished season 1. I was a little turned off because all the episodes show you is how the mystery is committed and Columbo is only there to solve it but the audience already knows everything happening. I’m not a fan of that, I would prefer to solve it myself.
Peter Falk is super entertaining though, so it all works out in the end. My very favorite things about Columbo is his sense of humor, and his brashness. He knows exactly when someone is lying and he will do his best to get the suspect to slip up.
An interesting thing to me about Columbo adversaries is if they’d only stick to their story, they would be set! Yet and still they get nervous knowing that they don’t have any evidence and that Columbo will just be hanging around so what? Eventually, another murder would be committed and he would be forced to go off and start a new case, why don’t they ever wait it out? A little patience and they’re off Scott free.
I really hope at some point in the series we get to meet his wife! She seems to have a good head on her shoulders, always helping him piece through the crimes, giving him good advice, I know later on they created a spinoff called Ms. Columbo but I’m unsure if their related in that fashion. Is it actually his wife? Or is it like a sister? I know you can catch a few episodes on Youtube, I’ll have to check it out sometime.
