Novels #58: May Wrapup

Hey Gang!

This year needs a speeding ticket! I honestly can’t believe it’s June already! I was just talking about all the books I wanted to read in May and now the month is over! Time just keeps getting away from me. I finished reading 3 books in the last two months. I only finished three but I swear I started like three more! Everyone kept recommending books that seemed interesting and then as soon as they arrived I started reading them!

I’m currently working my way through:

Good Girl, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson: The Sequel to A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder which I absolutely loved, I gave it 5 stars, I also listened to it on Audio, and it just had a whole ‘nother feel with the sound effects and such, whereas reading it physically isn’t terrible but it’s missing that special something. I’m hoping it picks up soon because I’m not really feeling the recap of the court proceedings so far.

Den of Vipers by K.A. Knight: I wound up DNFing this one, it was a bit much for me. I love a good reverse harem smut as much as the next person, but I draw the line at bloodplay and physical violence, which were pretty prevalent in this. I think I got through 15% and was just too unnerved to finish.

You Owe Me a Murder by Eileen Cook: I’m hoping this one picks up soon, It has a little too much back story and not enough murder for my liking, think strangers on a train, but teenagers in an airport. I like the premise, but I’m going to need it to speed up a bit.

In April, I put away The Mayqueen Murders by Sarah Jude, a murder mystery steeped in lore and atmosphere with a decent body count for a ya mystery. I gave it 5 stars! I completed A Dead Djinn in Cairo by P. Dj’eli Clark, towards the end of April, which is a steampunk fantasy mystery about the coming of an ultimate evil god, and the travel between different dimensions. I also gave it 5 stars and was so invested in his first full novel, which I bought and talk about in my May Book Haul.

In May, I completed I know you Remember, by Jennifer Donaldson. Now this novel renewed my vigor for reading! It follows the main character who is so excited to get back to her hometown so she can be with her best friend who she had to leave behind in Alaska because her mother wanted her to have a fresh start in Oregon due to their rocky relationship with her alcoholic father. The entire book gave me stalker vibes but I thought I was overreacting, when I tell you I was invested, You just have no idea! The story was excellently paced, I was on the edge of my seat, and the twist left me breathless! I can’t wait to read more of her work! I, of course, gave it 5 stars!

What have you read so far? Let’s talk about it

Until Next Time,
