Series #85: Riverdale Season 5 Thoughts
Hey Gang!
So yesterday I finished Season 5 of Riverdale, which is perfect timing because Season 6 is starting in 3 weeks with a 5 episode crossover event with Sabrina! I have literally been waiting for a Sabrina crossover since the almost death of Jughead in Season 3. I am a big fan of Archie Horror Comics, so I thought that was laying the groundwork for Archie Zombies or Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
When Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was released I was SO EXCITED, but I haven’t even completed season one, something is just missing. This is why I am so excited to see Sabrina coming in season 6. Let’s talk about the wild things that happened in this season.

Polly’s Disappearance: It sucks that we didn’t find Polly alive, but I think it’s incredibly unfair for Alice to blame Betty. Betty shouldn’t have had to put her life on hold for Polly to get herself together. She chose to run off with Jason, chose to have the twins, and chose to hang out with the Ghoulies, those choices all happened of her own accord, and had nothing to do with Betty, why should she have stayed in Riverdale? I think Alice was being incredibly unfair.
No One showing up a year later: I honestly think this is one of the things that pissed me off the most about the arc after graduation. How dare Archie and everyone make that pact, knowing damn well they weren’t going to bother to try, like seriously. Leaving Jughead all alone, probably started him on his drinking journey, honestly.
Tabitha and Jughead: I shipped this so hard! First off, yes all about that interracial love, but also it kind of sets her father up to be the new mobster since they’ve run Hiram out of town, and I love that Jughead, stood up for her, without any provocation, I am upset that she didn’t actually watch over him while he was on Shrooms, because everything that happened afterward, was pretty much her fault, however, I think they could have a great future.

Veronica’s marriage to Chad: The number 1 thing that annoyed me the most was this pairing. Veronica has always been headstrong, go get it, in charge of her own destiny kind of character, and this marriage, literally was garbage. Chad was literally a walking red flag, and Im annoyed that the writers just made her overlook that. For her to have seen the relationships she had before Archie, and the relationship her mother and father had, and for her not to see the signs, is just really bad writing in my opinion.
Archie literally being a war hero, I honestly don’t even know what to say about this. We all know that Archie is the one to run into a burning building to save the puppy, but to send him to war, seemed a bit much? I’m really glad he survived and did right by his soldier brethren, very excited to see what happens next season.
Cheryl becoming a “saint”: So is Cheryl really a saint? or is she just coming into her own witchy power? I thought it was really weird for her mother to start a monastery but she is always out for a buck. I think it was really interesting that Kevin was all on board until Cheryl actually had a diety and then he jumped ship, and I am very excited to see how her “powers” manifest in season 6.

The Three being part of the first Witchhunt trial in Riverdale. Super excited to explore more Riverdale History, and this awesome setup for the Sabrina Crossover. I am actually super excited to see Cheryl run her own women’s school, and I am just so in love with the idea of an all-female archery army.
Toni having a baby, I shouldn’t be surprised about Toni having a child, but I totally was. After she and Cheryl broke up, why didn’t they ever tell us who Toni’s Child’s father was? Why is that still a mystery? Super glad to see Fangs and Kevin still together, although it didn’t really seem to be a healthy relationship.
Jugheads alcoholism, honestly just seems really out of character for him. After growing up and seeing what drinking did to his dad and his grandfather, I find it hard to believe that he would even touch the stuff let alone become addicted to it. It really kind of annoyed me, I’m glad that he began the journey to get sober, but I feel like it was just kind of out of left field for him to even be in that kind of situation.
Also, can we talk about who got blown up at the end of the season? The trailer for Season 6 clearly shows all the characters from the previous season, so we know they survived, but how?! What an escalation for Hiram? Also Rivervale? This 5 episode special better be great! Sabrina better get her justice.
Are you watching Riverdale? Tell me what you thought about this season?
Until Next Time,
Moriartie
